Our Vision
'Engaging learners to be happy and confident individuals through developing healthy and respectful relationships and a positive attitude towards learning'.
There are five houses at Meldrum Academy with each house having a Principal Teacher of Pastoral Care. We are the main contact for parents and carers and our role includes pastoral and emotional support for young people, liaison with other agencies such as health, social work, the police, and careers services to support welfare and wellbeing.
We teach Personal and Social Education which allows weekly contact with our young people. We have an overview of attendance, behaviour and attainment for young people in our house. We support pupils at key transition points such as P7, subject choice, job, college and university applications to ensure smooth transitions and positive destinations.

The Pastoral Care staff endeavour to respond to emails and calls as quickly as possible and will certainly do so within 72 hours. We are class committed at times and are also frequently involved in meetings with parents and with outside agencies such as health and social work.

Our main role in school is to support your young person to maintain good health & wellbeing as well as good behaviour, attendance and timekeeping across the school and these things are reviewed regularly. We have a role in helping young people at transition times in particular, be that as they start their Meldrum Academy journey or as they leave school to move on to positive destinations.
