Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) makes it easier for young people to connect with employers to help them understand and develop the skills they need for the world of work.
Who are we and what do we do?
Our regional group – DYW North East – supports all secondary schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in helping to build links with local businesses and other partner organisations. Young people gain access to industry professionals and other partners who give them insights into different job roles and the routes into them. The activities facilitated by DYW North East also encourage pupils to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the world of work.
DYW North East has a team of coordinators, who make links between local businesses and schools and support them to plan and deliver activities. Inverurie Academy’s coordinator visits school on a weekly basis discussing the needs of the school and to share the fantastic opportunities that are on offer to the school from employers.
Example activities include Mock Interviews, Classroom Presentations, Skills Sessions, Workplace Visits, Business Insights and more.
Communication regarding events and opportunities that may be relevant to your young person will be sent out via the school office.
