S1
In first year, young people are working within the Curriculum for Excellence framework, with most pupils working between levels 1 and 3. Each young person works at the correct level for them determined by their prior learning and attainment within maths and numeracy.

The skills in each topic will vary depending on the level each young person is working at.
S2
In second year, young people are working within the Curriculum for Excellence framework, with most pupils working between levels 2 and 4. Each young person works at the correct level for them determined by their prior learning and attainment within maths and numeracy.
In the second section of work S2 young people have been developing their skills within:

Number patterns
Linear number sequences
The skills in each topic will vary depending on the level each young person is working at.
S3
In S3, most of our young people are working within the Curriculum for Excellence framework between levels 2 and 4, with some extending beyond level 4.
Young people continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of topics from the BGE curriculum and extend into both the Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics curriculum. This allows young people to experience all aspects of courses offered at Meldrum Academy and allows them to make informed decisions later in the year regarding the most appropriate course for them.
To date the blocks of work in S3 have covered:
Percentage calculations
Multiplying out brackets and simplifying expressions
Foreign exchange and world time zones
Scale and Scale Drawing
Scientific Notation
Averages and measure of spread
Pythagoras’ Theorem
Wages and Salaries
Factorising using a common factor
The skills in each topic will vary depending on the level each young person is working at.
Some young people in S3 are following an alternative pathway which is in line with their prior learning and attainment aiming towards National 3 Applications of Maths.
